I've been using Blood and Wine for Witcher 3. Some folks believe that "High" options with proper post-processing effects look superior to "Ultra" settings with identical effects. I've set Background Characters, Terrain Quality, and Grass Density to "Ultra." HBAO+ is on, AA is enabled, and Bloom is active. The textures appear less shimmery and with fewer aliasing issues, and the viewing distance remains consistent. Performance has improved to the high 70s to mid 80s now, compared to the 60s to mid 70s with Ultra. I suspect texture quality is the main issue—Ultra tends to show more noticeable aliasing. Overall, High settings give a better visual experience.

I concur, the fidelity adjustments aren't affecting the activation of Gameworks.

I focus mainly on surface details. At extreme levels they create a glowing effect, while at higher intensities they appear identical without any sparkle.

The graphics were indeed reduced, so the original Ultra setting was likely removed and a new version was quickly released.

I agree with that as well. It seems to still cause issues with frames even though it offers some benefits. Right now I’m using maximum settings just for the experience, except for textures which need higher values to prevent glitches.
