Some SSDs offer varying write speeds depending on usage and features.
Hello, I have a Samsung SSD already installed in my laptop with a sequential read speed of 7000 MB/s. I’m considering adding another 1 TB, but the same drive isn’t available locally and other similar sticks are too costly. Would switching to an M.2 NVMe SSD with lower write speeds be a suitable option?
Also consider upgrading to a 1TB NVMe if needed. Ensure there’s sufficient space above the motherboard in the M.2 slot for drives with chips on both sides of the PCB. At our facility, we recently received 25 Lenovo ThinkPad T14s Gen 3 units, but the G3 model doesn’t support NVMe drives with this configuration due to insufficient height.
Certain laptops feature several M.2 connections, others include an M.2 port along with one or two SATA interfaces for storage devices, and many allow swapping the traditional hard drive for a solid-state drive compartment.
