Hello everyone, I'm working on my build with two 4 GB RAM sticks and two 8 GB sticks from the same brand. So far everything has been smooth, but today I checked the Windows settings and noticed it suddenly showed "24GB installed (11,9 usable)." I tried mixing them up, using only two at a time, changing slots, and everything worked fine. However, when I put them in the order 8-4-8-4, it went back to showing 11,9 GB available. I remember this issue before, but I managed to fix it somehow—I don't really understand how. Do you know any solution? Thanks in advance.

Some motherboards don’t follow the ABAB pattern for RAM slots, even though many do.

The motherboard you're using is a B450M DS3H. You've been using the RAM in a specific sequence, but the issue has started recently, suggesting it might not be related to a simple pattern like ABAB or AABB.

Did you verify that the new RAM is functioning correctly right after installation?

It all functioned smoothly. The process began when I required the two 4GB drives for another purpose, even though I never actually used them. Eventually, they reappeared as the issue emerged.

I mean this clearly. What specific question or point are you asking about?

In Task Manager, navigate to Performance, then RAM section. You'll see a Hardware Reserved amount listed there.

I only ran the build when it was necessary, as my session lasted no more than 30 minutes.
