The game seems to be quite solid based on what’s being mentioned. It covers a variety of genres and settings, from Batman Arkham City to Borderlands 2, Far Cry 3, Just Cause 2, Saints Row: The Third, and even Shadow or Mordor.
I personally didn't have much fun with Saints Row III. Saints Row IV, on the other hand, was a great time, and there's a monster sale on all Saints-Row-related things on Steam right now. Super fun super-power game. Other than that, I'd agree with what other people have posted, and I remember having a bit of fun with Sleeping Dogs, even if the driving physics are a bit wonky (although the bashing mechanic makes up for it, I think)
Dark Souls offers a lot of freedom to explore. It's super enjoyable yet tough—what might happen if you make a mistake?
It might help to try again, though I didn’t enjoy the early sections of Saint’s Row 3 and stopped engaging with it afterward. Curious, though—what aspects of 4 didn’t appeal to you?
