Hello, I own an outdated laptop that still has its i7 3612QM socket, 8GB RAM, and a 1TB hard drive. I’m looking to purchase a budget-friendly used laptop and replace its parts. I originally considered a ThinkPad T420 or T430, but they’re quite costly in my area. Could you suggest some popular older office laptops with the G2 socket from manufacturers like HP, Dell, Lenovo, etc.? Thank you.

I originally considered purchasing a thinkpad t420/t430, but those models are quite costly in my area. Where is this region located? Common older office laptops with the G2 socket from manufacturers like HP, Dell, Lenovo, etc., are worth mentioning. In 2025 and beyond, it seems unlikely you'll achieve significant progress through recycling these parts. Windows 10 is no longer supported by Microsoft, and using only 8GB of RAM won’t be very effective. You could either keep the laptop unchanged or sell the scrap parts for some extra cash, save up, and invest in something else. Make sure to retain the HDD if it holds important data. If you still want to proceed, search for laptops with these processors; here’s a link: https://www.cpu-world.com/Sockets/Socket G2 (rPGA988B).html. If you find a good price, go for it—though finding something in good condition after 13 years is unlikely. My two opinions.

I intend to resell the upgraded laptop, which should likely yield better profits than selling the damaged one as-is.

Bangladesh. Used laptops with i7s can still fetch around $100. Thinkpads are even pricier, ranging from $100 to $200. However, few are willing to pay much for faulty equipment. Selling parts separately would probably be too slow. That's why I'm searching for a new hp or dell laptop to upgrade to.
