I was watching a YouTube video and noticed someone playing Farming Simulator. I became frustrated with their approach and thought, "I could do better." I decided to try it myself. I purchased Farming Simulator and found it incredibly satisfying. I’m unsure why, but creating the fields with uniform textures or trimming the grain neatly feels so calming. It’s hard to put into words—it’s similar to a city-building game. You invest many hours perfecting your system until you earn all the rewards. You can manage the fields yourself or hire someone to handle the work, letting you play as a farmer or even as a boss in later stages. (I imagine needing to be the boss more often in the endgame.) It’s just enjoyable. Usually I watch movies or YouTube on another screen while playing. Do you agree?
I thought it would be exciting to drive big tractors, but real agriculture is much slower. In the simulator, crops develop over a "day." EDIT: The game often makes controls harder for players (false difficulty), but macros resolve those issues.
I can't do that. I can't stand watching people play those games because they don't do it "right." hahaha Fortunately, you can make the game run extremely quickly, with crops growing in (real life) minutes if you desire. Plowing/harvesting still takes ages though. That's why you can hire workers! For me, it's a "lazy" day game. For when I don't feel like playing a fast paced FPS or thinking about an RPG. It's a "minimal thought" game. Other than the occasional "Maybe I should stagger my planting so that all of the crops don't come in at once."
I quickly tried the euro truck simulator and thought it was a bit dull (and hard to play without using a wheel). The farming simulator lets me witness the results of my efforts in real time, whereas the euro truck simulator feels more like a straightforward business game, while the farming version offers more interactive tasks.
