It means the program requires less space on your device, which can improve performance and reduce the risk of running out of memory.

I find it a bit tough to put it simply... Initially, the computer doesn't consume much memory, which isn't a problem if you have more than 4GB or 6GB of RAM (though this isn't the only reason people claim Linux uses memory better). Programs interact with your operating system in a somewhat unusual way. In general, explaining it is complex because you need to grasp what's happening beneath the surface. The advantages of efficient memory use include improved speed and stability. Linux and macOS are lightweight systems that often feel faster than Windows, especially Linux. This means they require minimal resources, allowing low-end PCs to run smoothly. Regarding "better memory usage," using Windows over time might lead you to reformat your drive and reinstall it, indicating some weaknesses in the OS. Personally, I haven't experienced a blue screen or major errors with macOS or Ubuntu, though I've encountered some Windows bugs. In contrast, I've never faced unexpected issues with Ubuntu (though there were oddities). Overall, MacOS and Linux tend to be more future-proof than Windows, which likely explains the perception of better memory efficiency. You can stick with Ubuntu for years without needing to reformat or reinstall, whereas Windows often shows performance drops after a while. In short, there are benefits and drawbacks with every OS, so it's up to you to choose what works best for you.

Windows appears to have a more intricate design compared to Linux. Even if games perform similarly across both platforms, Linux might offer better speed in certain cases. Windows provides distinct benefits that Linux lacks, such as enhanced compatibility with specific software and tools, which can be valuable despite the ongoing improvements in technologies like DirectX.

Yes, it seems windows can be more complex. But I’m not sure if a PC running Linux would run better in games. Probably a low-end machine might handle it better with Linux, though I don’t think the operating system is that important overall. The main benefit of windows is that it’s the most widely used system, which means you’ll find support for most software compared to Linux.

Beyond compatibility benefits and a user-friendly design, Windows falls short when compared to Linux.

They're all improving constantly. Windows is speeding up, Linux is expanding, and MacOS is also gaining traction. Personally, I prefer MacOS for its speed and strong software support. Each has its strengths, but every one has some drawbacks. Ultimately, it depends on what matters most to you.
