Shell extensions and registry tools remain accurate. All major system and DISM checks were completed without any issues.

When no shell extension or codec is available, try one corrupted file at a time. Sometimes it's just a single file that won't open. Use the command prompt or another third-party explorer to locate it. Copy parts into a new folder and test each one. When you see it crash, remove the previous copy and gradually reduce the size until you pinpoint the problematic file.

File move tasks appear to fail 6 out of 10 times in the "2018 Singles" directory, while copying, pasting, and relocating succeed 4 out of 10 times.

a shell extension won't create issues during scanning. It's similar to the features in winrar or 7zip where you see options like "extract file" in the context menu. This isn't harmful; it might just misinterpret something. For viewing such files, a good tool is available at https://www.nirsoft.net/utils/shexview.html. Just be cautious—this program will display only what's included with Windows. You could disable it instead of removing it. I'm not certain if it's a shell extension, but this tool should help resolve the problem.

It seems you haven't yet installed the K-lite codec pack. Thanks for reminding me to update my Mega codec pack. I'll check if that fixes the problem. Also, I'm removing this audio converter and adding a different one.

I copied the entire folder to the desktop without opening it, removed it from its original spot, and then moved it back to its original path. No particular file was affected by this action. The problem continues.

I just set up the newest K-lite release (I wasn’t sure it was installed on this machine) and received these three shell extensions. This is just an illustration—I’m not claiming klite is the issue. However, Firefox crashed repeatedly for a minute while streaming YouTube. Usually, codecs come with shell extensions.

I'm not focusing on disrupting the process. Instead, I'm duplicating small sets of files and verifying whether the problem remains in the updated directory until an affected file is identified. Occasionally it's just a single file.

I attempted to turn off and turn back on all shell extensions, but I can't recall the specific software involved.
