So here’s the situation—I bought an MSI X470 Gaming Plus board a while back. I trusted MSI because they’re always recommended and I’ve used their parts before, which usually worked well. But when I tried to boot up my system and opened the BIOS, I realized something was missing. Even OEM boards now have this feature by default. It’s fast boot! I was shocked by either A: MSI thought an X470 shouldn’t support fast boot, or B: they just overlooked it. Clearly, fast boot is mostly a software setting that could’ve been added to the BIOS. Who decided not to include it? Nobody knows. I searched forums, but no one had a clear answer. Plus, MSI didn’t support full rainbow RGB in their software—though I managed to get it with a third-party tool. It looks like they just didn’t want to add that feature. Honestly, I’m confused about why they didn’t make it standard. There’s no reason they wouldn’t have included it in the Mystic Light software. Anyway, I ended up keeping the board for too long and now plan to sell it on eBay. I’ve swapped it out for an ASRock X570 Steel Legend—it boots faster, has full RGB control in the BIOS, and even includes a GUI for fan settings. Still, I’m not sure why MSI would have ignored such a basic requirement.
Absolutely, I also have an SSD, which makes me a bit overly detailed about this now. It’s probably just what we should expect these days.

This feature bypasses certain error checks during startup, making it convenient for memory overclocking. With Fast Boot active, you'll notice fewer post codes appearing. You can observe the boot sequence on the LCD display.
