Hey everyone, just like the title says: when I hover over some icons, their picture gets replaced by something stretched out and blurry or just a solid flat color (usually black or pink). Other stuff like scrollbars and some dialogue boxes is also having this problem. This bug has been annoying me for the last few days and I have tried everything to fix it. The software causing this issue so far are: Affinity Photo, Affinity Designer and Razer Synapse. To my knowledge, this hasn't spread to the rest of my computer, thankfully. I updated all drivers in my PC including the Razer Synapse one (mine is a gtx1060 6gb). I uninstalled and reinstalled all software that has this issue. I restarted my computer several times and ran a windows troubleshoot. Nothing. If anyone knows what could be causing this, that would be amazing. Thanks in advance.

Try starting Windows with no apps running and see if that makes any difference. Make sure to read the steps carefully and don't turn off any Microsoft services or Windows won't work at all - https://support.microsoft.com/en-au/help...in-windows If it does fix the problem, then a program is starting up too early. You should restart the programs you turned off to figure out which one causes trouble. there might be a fight between two apps. what do you use synapse for?

Try turning off your computer completely and restarting to see if that helps. Make sure to follow the steps carefully, especially not turning off Microsoft or Windows services, because they will stop working without them running. Check this link for more details on how to do a clean boot: https://support.microsoft.com/en-au/help...in-windows If it fixes your problem, then the issue is probably one of the programs that start up too soon. You need to restart all those programs many times so you can tell which one is causing trouble. It might be a clash between two apps. What program are you trying to fix?

Thanks for the fast reply! I only use Synapse with my Blackwidow keyboard. Because I'm not very good about this stuff, I always thought a clean boot would wipe all my files. Now I'll run the tests and then back to it. Thank you so much again! 🙏

clean boot only stops programs from running at startup; it doesn't take them away or delete them. They just don't start automatically when you turn on your computer. It's super easy to go back to normal use, and this process isn't dangerous because nothing is deleted. The programs are simply paused until needed. Clean install wipes everything out, including all files. I never chose that option without trying something in between first. Also, clean install wasn't even one of my choices. These things aren't the same thing at all.

I signed up just to say thank you for creating a thread that actually explains this problem online. I hope it helps other people who are lost in the internet trying to fix their bugs. It took me all day to write this. On my part, it looks like ASUS Armory Crate (which came with both my ROG Strix X570-F and 6800XT) might be the cause. I also had this happen with Razer Synapse and... SteamVR! Even though the icon glitching was happening on the buttons of the SteamVR dashboard overlay, that's what happened.

Hey, thanks so much for being there! I'll definitely look at Armory Crate since things are still stuck. Do I need to delete the program or just take it off my start-up list?

I tested by turning things back on one at a time to see what was wrong. The problem came from the "Nahimic service." Google says this connects to Realtek audio, Sound Studio, and Sound Radar somehow. It kept coming back when I started up with it on, but disappeared when I turned it off. I don't know how much that would change my onboard sound because I use a separate external DAC and uninstalled the related programs, though the service stays in the list. Now it's off and not hurting me any more, so I'm done here and think the issue is fixed for this specific case. Edit: This problem seems to affect scalable graphics in .NET Core apps specifically. There are some threads on the dotnet/wpf GitHub about it and how memory hooks in Nahimic make it happen. https://github.com/dotnet/wpf/issues/707 https://github.com/dotnet/wpf/issues/2604

It all makes sense because I had to restart my computer's sound settings, and some software was installed just a few days ago that caused this issue. The only place I could find Nahimic Service listed is in the tasks manager under the services tab. Is that right where I should turn it off?

It's found in the System Configuration menu, which is described in the clean boot tips from the thread by Colif.
