Hello! Your dad's PC is experiencing some strange behavior with certain games. He can run IL-2, FS2020, and Assetto Corsa, but games like F1 22 and Automobilista 1 cause the system to crash completely—screen turns grey, then black, and the 'No Signal' message appears. Random noises occur too: game sounds repeat briefly, and system sounds appear before the screen goes dark. It seems like a power issue or GPU problem might be involved. Once the monitor is off, the keyboard and mouse stop working, but the fans still spin, including the CPU fan. The PC is older, and the problems seem inconsistent. The specs are: Ryzen 7 2700X, GTX 970, 16GB DDR4 RAM, ASRock B450 Pro4, Corsair VS550w PSU. Any advice or troubleshooting steps would be really helpful. Thanks!
the graphics card in that setup is ten years old and since it hasn't received any fundamental upkeep, i'd begin by addressing the fundamentals. an os update, system temperature checks, and basic maintenance would be the next steps.
I faced the same issue with an rx550. The problem also occurs when playing more graphically demanding games. We usually fix it by updating the drivers. If your GPU isn’t getting any updates, try cleaning it or repasting it might help, but I suggest getting a newer model.
