Hey there, I’m trying to sort this out. Recently three games—Skyrim SE, Forza Horizon 3, and Heroes of the Storm—have been acting up badly. I want to determine if it’s a software conflict or a hardware problem. The issues seem to appear in all three, but they’re most noticeable when exploring certain areas like valleys. --Skyrim: While playing, I notice black squares forming and growing. They eventually stop expanding, but once they drag across the screen, creating long black lines that keep moving, the game turns completely black. Even opening the map or UI works without issues. The trouble mainly shows up when looking at low areas. As I play longer, avoiding these lines becomes increasingly difficult. --Forza Horizon 3: The game runs okay until I enter the open world, after which strange artifacts appear on screen. These are bothersome but manageable. The main problem is that after a cutscene, the game crashes to the desktop without saving my progress. --Heroes of the Storm: This game has widespread artifacts. Playing a match makes them worse. They can range from a single bright line to large sections tearing off. It’s really distracting during matches. I’ve experienced this consistently on both my old and new systems, even under heavy load with many browser tabs, browsers, sticky notes, and apps open. I’m using a triple monitor setup, upscaling one monitor from 1080p to 1440p. My current system specs are: -fx-8320E OC @ 4.3Ghz (stock 3.2GHz) with Dark Rock TF cooler -ASUS gaming aura 970MHz -16GB DDR3 RAM @1887MHz -CX750 PSU -Sapphire Nitro+ RX-480 8GB OC @1445MHz (stock 1370MHz) My previous build had: -Ryzen 7 1700 OC @3.9GHz (stock 3.0GHz) with Dark Rock TF cooler -MSI Tomahawk B350 Mobo -16GB DDR4 RAM @2667MHz @2400MHz -CX750 PSU -Sapphire Nitro+ RX-480 8GB OC @1445MHz (stock 1370MHz) I’m using the same PSU, cooler, and graphics card as my old system. Also, my girlfriend’s PC runs with a 450W PSU and has no issues. All other games work fine. I’ve maxed out settings, lowered shadows helped only slightly, and even removed overclocks or reset BIOS didn’t fix it. I’ve tried disabling the graphics card, switching BIOS, and using safe mode—except Skyrim was the only one that worked without internet. I reinstalled all three games multiple times, but none were modded. I also experimented with running them with just Steam and Cam software, but that didn’t help. I’m really stuck and would appreciate any advice. Thanks a lot.

It might be your graphics card behaving oddly; replace it with a different model from your partner and check if the issue persists. If it does, consider returning the faulty card through the warranty program.

Sure, I understand you're expressing concern about a potential issue. It seems there might be some confusion regarding the card registration and warranty status. Let me clarify that for you.

You can sign up for your card anytime during the warranty period, as long as you have the original packaging and the serial code. The number might appear on a label attached to the card or on some internal paperwork. I’m not entirely certain since I haven’t registered my GPU myself.

I understand the card suggestion. Maybe memory issues are the problem. Consider reducing GPU and RAM speeds slightly to test. Also, note that opening many apps uses a lot of system memory—shutting them down might help. It could be the strain affecting the CPU as well. Regular maintenance is important.

I just connected my first GPU, a GT730. It's terrible performance, but I fixed everything. Damn, I turn it off each night. Some apps don't run all the time—it depends.
