With today's availability of 2 to 8 cores, it wasn't possible in 2010. This was inevitable; you can anticipate that some systems will lack 2 cores at certain times. You probably don't notice why games feel so tough with a 9800GT processor, right? No one has clearly stated that GPUs need 3GB of VRAM to run at full capacity, and there are still GPUs with 8GB VRAM available.
I use an i5 3570k and an R9 280. Not the best specs, but they work. Games run smoothly without breaking the bank.
Expanding the number of cores remains the most effective method for CPUs to achieve significant performance gains after the clock speed ceiling around 2003. Adopting quad-core optimized games faced considerable challenges due to increased complexity in development. I’m hoping we won’t be entering a future with hexacores or octacores, as I plan to purchase either a quad-core i5 or a quad-core processor with hyperthreading Xeon soon. Hyperthreading won’t ever compensate for missing 2 or 4 cores.
Recent non-Ubisoft titles are seeing varied reception, with some gaining traction while others face challenges in the market.
The remnants of Mordor thrived under the dark shadow, and everyone fared reasonably well. I didn’t encounter any optimization concerns regarding them.
It’s not a big deal for me. I’m not the typical person who can afford an upgrade if necessary, and I won’t buy cheap, low-quality games unless it’s for someone else. For demanding titles, it’s fine as long as they’re well-made. AC and Unity are the worst examples you could encounter. Really, BC 2 is an old game—it makes sense it requires less power. It’s just outdated. Why didn’t you mention Diablo 1 while you were talking? If you mentioned "Fortnite and Unity" or something similar, it would make more sense. My main concern is GPU manufacturers; they should improve and create more affordable, better devices.
