Personally, I’d opt for an Intel right now because they’re the cheapest per core for the first time in years, though others mentioned plain gaming cores aren’t the only factor to think about.
I'm not sure about this. I notice many people claim AMD is clearly superior to Intel for gaming. However, the benchmarks I found on YouTube suggest AMD might only be 5 FPS faster, slower by 5 FPS, or significantly lagging behind Intel in titles like RDR2. The situation is also affected by high prices compared to Intel's MSRP, while AMD prices are either at MSRP or lower. I don't have a strong preference for either brand, and I was initially drawn to AMD but found the performance-to-price ratio lacking. Plus, Rocket Lake is coming soon, which could shift the balance again, potentially making AMD even more competitive or cheaper based on availability.

For instance, the 5600X will likely outperform a 3700X in five years simply due to its faster cores. It's important to move beyond the idea that core counts are the most critical factor.
What? CS:GO is mainly run at 1080p or lower, especially in competitive play (often low quality). That means the CPU limits will grow more and more. Who actually plays CS:GO in 4K?
