It's surprising to see this title handling a 4090 on 4K, though it's tough. I've noticed similar games like Alan Wake 2 and Cyberpunk 2077 perform well despite their visuals. Would you think improvements through updates could make it run smoother in the future?

The game performs adequately. The issue lies primarily with the path tracing process.

It wouldn't be surprising if a 2000$ GPU handled the workload smoothly, especially with DLSS and FSR helping maintain quality. Running at 60fps in 4K with path tracing still feels doable, though occasional frame drops are noticeable.

Despite NVIDIA's efforts to promote RT/PT, we remain several generations away from it being more than just a demonstration.

It seems they’ll continue this pattern, and eventually even a 5090 might face challenges. It feels frustrating, like we’ll have to upgrade to something like a 6090 someday. That’s really disappointing. I recall when you could easily get the top GPU and run everything smoothly without any issues.

It would work well depending on the configuration, but it's quite demanding. At 1440p it runs smoothly, yet 4K is too heavy to handle.

The game performs exceptionally well. Just remember that some visual choices are planned for future upgrades. A 4090 with DLSS and FG can smoothly handle maximum settings at over 60 frames per second. If you prefer not to rely on upscaling or frame generation, turn off RT or adjust certain parameters to high or very high levels. Shadow effects and global illumination provide the most noticeable performance improvements. The game maintains excellent visual quality even at these configurations. This demonstrates effective optimization. It's beneficial when games support forward-facing graphics options, letting you enjoy the experience again with a new GPU in a few years. These titles age more slowly compared to others. Take Cyberpunk as an example—it remains a standard for realistic visuals nearly five years later. Even the top model 3090 couldn't achieve 4K at maximum settings. Limiting performance doesn’t mean the game isn’t optimized; it simply means you have the ability to fine-tune it yourself. Open the graphics menu and explore guides that detail which settings impact performance, appearance, and ideal balances. Some players prefer lower visual fidelity for smoother play, while others enjoy higher frames rates and richer details. You can't make a game universally optimal—if it struggles under maximum settings or can’t be adjusted on certain platforms, it falls short of optimization.

I’m comfortable with DLSS and FG effects. Perhaps it’s because I anticipated smoother performance rather than expecting high frame rates. In reality, it runs well over 60 frames per second on 4K Ultra with full ray tracing enabled. I believe future updates will improve this further under the same settings. Also, there’s no compelling reason to stick with native rendering, especially with path tracing—DLSS quality feels nearly identical and delivers significantly higher FPS. It clearly represents the direction of gaming innovation.
