Occasionally during gameplay in Shadow Of Mordor, my PC freezes, the screen goes black, and the monitor signals it’s about to sleep. The GPU fan speeds up significantly, reaching around 100%. I have to manually power off the machine to restart it. This seems related to overclocking the GPU. I’m using an Asus GTX650 OC.

It might be an OS issue. Consider lowering the clock speed slightly.

Issue often linked to black screen and freezing stems from excessive memory operation on the GPU or insufficient power supply for its clock speed. Visible glitches indicate the GPU core is running at an overclocked frequency.

Thanks! I adjusted the memory clock speed, and it hasn't crashed yet.
