I recently downloaded WWE 2K16 and noticed it would crash immediately. After checking Event Viewer, atidxx64.dll was identified as the problem. I followed online advice, reinstalled the latest AMD GPU drivers, and the game started functioning properly for a day. From then on, it stopped working again. The issue began right after the Stone Cold splash screen appeared. This time the error changed, triggering Exception 0xc000005 in Windows Event Viewer. I reinstalled the game multiple times, adjusted the installation path each time, turned off the firewall, but the problem persisted.

My system details:
- Model: Lenovo IdeaPad S145
- Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 3500U with Vega 8 GPU
- RAM: 8 GB total, 2 GB dedicated for Vega 8
- Game performance: Smooth for a day without lag
Event Viewer logs:
- Application name: WWE2K16.exe, version 1.0.0.0, timestamp 0x56f02ad5
- Module name: WWE2K16.exe, version 1.0.0.0, timestamp 0x56f02ad5
- Exception code: 0xc000005
- Fault offset: 0x0000000000d83b23
- Process ID: 0x65c
- Start time: 0x01d6bb5faad4080b
- Path: E:\Games\WWE 2K16 PC\WWE2K16.exe
- Report ID: 6b405e2c-b66f-4a64-90f9-267a19874a0c

I’ve seen similar posts on 2K and Steam forums, but it seems the developers aren’t responding much. I’m hoping someone can assist me here.

Sorry for late reply again, but this problem is deeper then I originally thought.
Maybe there is a way to disable intro videos in wwe 2k16, and by that way the game loading into the main menu straight away.
But as i type this, i have ofcourse tried to find if its possible, but it seems it is not.
It seems there is a solution for nvidia cards though, which can be found here:
Fixed start up splash screen crash :: WWE 2K16 General Discussions
So been trying to get the game to work all day. Remove Nvidia graphics drivers completely, then reinstall this version - http://www.geforce.com/drivers/results/83080 Also open CMD as admin and type sfc/SCANNOW and let it finish. Worked for me, good luck Smile
steamcommunity.com
So you might try install drivers that came out around the time the game came out. Other then that for now i have no clue, as youve tried to do almost everything already
🙁
Still i hope you can do something with the given steam link, but im afraid indeed your last hope is the new windows...

What I've done is comparing your CPU and GPU to mine (since I could play the game fine before) and checking what the games suggest for your hardware. It looks like both your CPU and GPU fall short of the recommended specs, only meeting the minimum. You might try running the game as an administrator, but remember your PC isn’t powerful enough. The report you received says the game version is 1.0, while a quick search shows there’s at least a 1.01 update available for the PC version. You could consider applying the latest patch and retrying. But honestly, I think it’s best to give up on your setup, as all of 2k’s sports games are quite demanding for a PC and often don’t meet the required specs. For instance, with my system I should be able to run WWE 2K19 at least at 60 FPS, but I rarely reach that. So maybe it’s enough to stop trying.

Thank you for the update. Regarding the system requirements, I managed to run it smoothly for a few hours before switching to Linux (dual booted) for work. After some more time, I decided to boot up Windows again and play. Since then, the game stopped functioning. When it was working, I could achieve over 30 FPS (around 40 at most), which is acceptable for a non-esports title. Music, animations, and effects all worked perfectly even on medium settings. I also installed the 1.01 Patch; I don’t know why the executable shows 1.0 instead of 1.01, but I trust the patch. I tried using Compatibility mode and running as administrator, but nothing seems to work now. I looked up the exception 0xc0000005 on Google—it mentions memory access issues, which is confusing because it used to work before.

In reality, it could be a mem issue.
If you decide to leave your laptop powered on overnight, running a mem test at night might be a good idea.
TechPowerUp
MemTest64 is a free tool for checking system memory stability and detecting errors on Intel and AMD processors. It works on 64-bit Windows without needing installation.
www.techpowerup.com
Keep in mind that performing the test to its full capacity, especially for thorough analysis, can take a significant amount of time. Therefore, it’s advisable to begin the test when you go to sleep on a day when you have to leave for work (or any other commitments) the following day.
So, start the memory test, fall asleep, wake up, head to work, and upon returning home, the results should appear.
If everything checks out, you can be confident it’s not the memory problem.
However, I’ve been looking online for the error and exploring forums to try to recreate your issue. So far, I haven’t managed to reproduce it, which means I don’t have a clear indication of what might be causing it.
Some general suggestions include running your laptop at maximum performance, searching for ways to boost its speed (especially for AMD models), and considering increasing the virtual memory settings. The default values usually work fine.
Another method I often use is the tdrdelay trick, which you can find here:
View: https://www.reddit.com/r/battlefield_4/c...ast_patch/
This tip applies to BF4 and can help with many applications, making them less prone to crashes.
But these are just general advice. Although I suspect you were lucky enough to run the game without issues, I might have discovered something useful—though it’s relevant for 2K15 and possibly works for 2K16 as well:
https://steamcommunity.com/app/240460/di.../?l=polish
It advises at the bottom to do this:
Here is how to fix it. I tried it and after some effort, it finally worked!
Navigate to c:/windows/system32, locate XAudio2_7.dll, rename it to XAudio2_7.bak, and you should be good. No more crashes on Windows 10. Hope this helps.
Maybe this could also assist you.
Let me know if it helped or not.
😀
Cheers from Mara

Hey There, thanks for your message and the detailed update.
I’m unable to run the memtest at the moment because I have to get up early for college and have upcoming exams. I really can’t dedicate hours without my laptop. On the other hand, the laptop is only a month old, so I’m pretty sure there’s no memory issue. I also discovered something interesting—I used to play older games like UT3 fine on it, but last week it stopped working. Checking the Event Viewer showed the same 0x....5 exception. I’ve played that game for years, but now it won’t start. I suspect this might be a Windows bug. My only option is to update Windows to version 20h2 and see if that resolves these issues.
I tried your regedit method, but it didn’t help. The Virtual Memory method also failed. Also, the XAudio DLL file seems to be for audio purposes—maybe that won’t fix my problem.
Regards.

It depends for the xaudio.
I would say try it out, and see if it works. If it does but you have no sound it isnt solvable i think, but then at least we know what the problem is.
But honestly, there are more files related to the audio driver, so its just worth a shot imo to see if it works, and IF it works with sound, then you could let it be as it is, isnt it?
But again, keep me posted

Hey, I tried the DLL method too, same issue still occurs. It seems update to 20H2 is the last hope anyway...
