So recently multiplayer in COD MW2 has experienced stutters occasionally. Single-player runs without issues, which suggests the problem isn't related to graphics. I'm using driver version 522.25, so it can't be a driver issue. It doesn't seem to be caused by my CPU either, as my laptop doesn't overheat during play. I'm hoping the issue lies with the game itself rather than my computer. Thanks in advance!

Yeah, I've heard the recent update and the latest Nvidia GPU drivers have helped reduce stutters in the game and boost performance. According to Nvidia's notes:
The updated Game Ready Driver Version 526.86 WHQL delivers the optimal gaming experience for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II. It brings better stability, fixes image corruption problems, and supports features like NVIDIA DLSS Super Resolution and NVIDIA Reflex.
I plan to purchase this game next week because I really enjoy playing COD single-player campaigns.

If the SINGLE Player campaign functions without issues, the problem likely lies with the MP/Online section of this game. You might also want to check the official COD forums for similar reports, just in case the issue is common.

One straightforward solution involves adjusting the settings: the on-demand texture streaming feature can be enabled or disabled. In the CoD MW2 visual settings, toggle this option to switch between on and off. This setting downloads high-quality textures during gameplay; turning it off prevents stuttering and offers a smoother experience, although it may not always succeed.

Texture Streaming relies on your internet connection to fetch game assets while playing. The same performance problems appeared in MW 2019 as well. The game operates normally until frequent micro-stutters become noticeable.

The suggested fix provided here can be effective and should also apply to MW2. Navigate to Documents > Call of Duty > players > Right-click on “options.3.3cod22.cst”, select open with Notepad, scroll to the end, and find “RendererWorkerCount.” Modify its value to match your CPU’s physical core count—typically half the number of threads. Save using Ctrl+S, then launch the game to see if the issue improves.

Alright, I have tried the .cst file fix before, very little change, and I have read that on demand texture streaming causing stutters is more of a problem on HDD rather than SSD. The on demand texture streaming solution is worth a shot though.

Was changing the "on demand" texture streaming option effective in minimizing in-game stutters during MP matches? I'm also hoping the single-player campaign won't experience significant stuttering as the MP component progresses.

Oh sorry! I didn't notice this reply in my email until now. With the new update, stutters and performance have improved a lot. There are still some occasional stutters, but it might just be because I didn't perform a clean install with my NVIDIA drivers. I don't want to change all the settings in the control panel. Other than that, I'm not sure what's causing this. Maybe I should check other games to see if this is more of a PC issue rather than a game problem.
