Solving EasyTune versus BIOS overclocking
Solving EasyTune versus BIOS overclocking
Hi,
I’m currently using the Ryzen 1700 stock configuration on my GA-AB350-Gaming motherboard and considering an overclock. I was checking my BIOS for available options, but it seems there are limited choices regarding voltage control—just core and SOC voltages can be adjusted via offset method, without LLC support.
I also looked through the motherboard utilities and the EasyTune app suggests direct Vcore and SOC settings, though the SOC voltage is hidden. I’m wondering if using the EasyTune app for overclocking is a better choice because it provides more BIOS control, and if the BIOS settings aren’t available, only EasyTune will function correctly.
It looks strange that LLC isn't listed in the BIOS. It makes me wonder if it's missing somewhere. Unless you're really trying hard, you likely don't have to worry much about it.
Simple tuning works well. AMD also provides its own Overclocking tool (Ryzen Master Utility). I usually adjust settings directly in the BIOS instead of using external software. During testing, I might use other programs to fine-tune the frequency because they let me raise the CPU speed without needing a restart. Once I'm happy with the result, I remove the software. It's all about personal preference.

Everyone's approach is different.
