I am experiencing gameplay issues in Battlerite on Steam, characterized by choppy performance and significant input lag despite maintaining a high frame rate (well above 60fps). The problem manifests as apparent frame drops and stuttering, particularly when moving the camera. Enabling vertical sync and accelerated input improves playability but does not resolve the underlying issue. I have a FreeSync monitor and have tested various refresh rates and frame rate caps without success. Other Steam games, including League of Legends, operate without issues. My computer build includes an ASUS TUF B450M-PLUS GAMING motherboard, AMD Ryzen 5 3400G processor, Corsair CX Series 750W power supply, T-Force Vulcan 1TB SSD, Corsair VENGEANCE LPX 16GB DDR4 RAM, and an EVGA GeForce RTX 2060. I have attempted the following troubleshooting steps: reseating hardware connections, performing a clean Windows installation (twice), downloading/updating all drivers, uninstalling/reinstalling Steam and Battlerite, adjusting FreeSync and display settings, changing Battlerite's priority to high, monitoring system performance in Task Manager, experimenting with various in-game and Steam settings, and testing internet speeds.

A process may be running in the background consuming excessive resources. Use the Task Manager to identify and disable processes. Additional services operating in the background not displayed by the Task Manager can be viewed through the Resource Monitor, specifically the Services tab. Research each service before disabling it to ensure it is not required.

It’s readily apparent when it’s in use, particularly within the Task Manager. Generally, disabling unnecessary programs and services improves performance. This practice aligns with “device hardening” in IT, where a ‘bastion host’ is a common application.
