Hey everyone, my house is far away, so the internet speed is limited to 12Mbps. Three connections are set up for remote work, which means I’m exploring alternatives to a fixed line. Any ideas from the UK side?

What amount are you considering? Do you have a WISP available? Which internet connection do your neighbors use?

The only alternative idea I have is installing a mobile broadband router paired with a SIM card for internet access, provided there’s good 4G coverage nearby. This might offer some improvement.

Budget remains somewhat flexible right now, with three jobs at stake for WISP as with 4G. I haven’t checked the details, but I’d guess the usual providers (O2, Vodafone, Three) are still in place. They all offer fixed line ADSL/VDSL services.

Did your sibling provide a 4G speed test, and the download speed is just 1Mbps?

Wisp typically relies on non-cellular wireless connections, which are significantly faster than cellular networks and offer larger data capacities. For a more reliable setup, consider investing in a dedicated wireless point-to-point link or connecting to another ISP. You might also explore obtaining multiple lines from your ISP and combining them.

I should note this was a consideration; I need to take a closer look now. I'm thinking about a dedicated line but don't know the distance to the nearest PCP. It seems BT has recently begun offering Second Line, which could be useful. Thanks for checking!

No Virgin service available, DSL performance drops significantly over long distances, and a secondary connection might help balance the workload.

No Virgin, no intention for Virgin to enter the zone. However, during my research, I discovered a wireless ISP promising 50/15 speeds. Looking forward to an engineer visit to verify. Appreciate the suggestions!
