Most of the games I play experience lag or occasional lag spikes. However, the FPS doesn't drop to zero; at 144 FPS it usually falls to around 120–140. Far Cry 5: whenever I collect items, the game slows from 90 FPS to 80–90. I've noticed the game saves automatically when I pick up items and when I move to new areas, which might be the reason. Mordhau: the game stutters unpredictably, dropping from 90–89–85, etc. Also, when I switch spectators or players, the FPS drops to about 70 for a short time. Grim Dawn: it lags whenever it feels like it, with FPS going from 144–143–142. When entering houses, the game stutters to around 100 FPS. CS:GO sometimes lags, fluctuating between 300–340 FPS and then dropping to 200–250. Gunfire Reborn: I experienced a major stutter when moving my camera and shooting in 1080p at 144Hz with high-ultra settings. My specs include an RTX 2060, I7-10700K, 32GB RAM, 1080p 144Hz, games on a 1TB HDD but Windows on a 120GB SSD. XMP is enabled via BIOS and auto-tuning is active in GeForce Experience. Temperatures (CPU-Z): the GPU stays below 70°C, but the "hotspot" reaches over 90°C. CPU hits 85°C during intense gameplay. But it doesn’t reach that level in Grim Dawn. Is this typical? Should I get used to it? Maybe I need to adjust something in BIOS?
I reinstalled CS:GO onto my SSD, but it didn’t fix the issue. Also, CPU-Z shows "YES" for GPU temperature even though the actual readings never exceed 70–75°C. Why does it say yes on thermal then?

Consider switching to an SSD for better performance. The HDD is probably causing most of the lag when your GPU needs new textures...an SSD will significantly speed things up. Using just an SSD with Windows won't improve your gaming experience much. You might still see occasional stutters, but a faster drive would reduce them considerably.
What is your PSU? Also, it looks like your CPU temperature has climbed to a level that could cause damage:
[SOLVED] - Are my I7-10700K Temperatures Good/Normal/Safe?
About a month ago I assembled a gaming PC with an i7-10700K. The cooler I'm using is "Be Quiet Dark Rock Pro 4". I've found that typical safe temperature ranges for CPUs today are: idle 30-45°C, workload 45-65°C, gaming 75-80-85°C. I've been keeping track of my...
The CPU temperature hits 75 degrees during a CSGO session with uncapped frames at maximum settings. This is still within safe limits since 100 degrees would be dangerous, and the current peak of 90 degrees hasn’t triggered thermal throttling.

Game fps changes throughout its range from the lowest to the highest. This happens because certain parts of the game are simpler to render than others. To maintain a steady fps, you can establish a limit, ensuring your fps stays consistent. If it drops, it means your limit was set too high.
I have the same issue again, and changing my RAM, GPU, and CPU didn't make a difference. In MSI Afterburner I began monitoring what my components were doing when stutter occurred, and during those stutters the GPU usage, clock, and CPU usage stayed normal, but the GPU power dropped from 60% to 35%.
