I wouldn't want to harm your system on the low-end board. You might face vrm throttling or damage, which could destroy the motherboard and chip. For better performance, consider upgrading to an 8-core FX and a new motherboard.

No point in a new fx cpu and board if you're going to do that move to ryzen because it will far surpass the fx platform the 990fx chipset boards are still selling for $150-$200
an 8core fx is around $80
What could you get for $230 or a bit more, an upgraded core system.
I could buy a better fx for my sabretooth now it's 3yrs in and it would be economical now the price is dropping because it's obsolete.
