A system built a year and a half ago - Asus B550M-A, MSI 3060, Ryzen 5 5600X. Added Hyper212 Evo CPU cooler. RAM: 32GB Teamgroup, 2x16GB DDR4 at 3200MHz (combined 2400MHz). RAM sticks are in slots #2 and #4. Confirmed via Task Manager, BIOS, and CPUZ that both sticks run at 2400MHz. In BIOS I don’t see an XMP profile; only one D.O.C.P. is listed: "D.O.C.P. DDR4-3200 16-20-40-1.3 5V". Under MEMORY FREQUENCY it shows "DDR4-3200MHz" with a clock frequency of 1600MHz, yet I’m getting 2400MHz. It’s been sitting for some time, and I’m unsure if I should try manually adjusting the RAM speeds in BIOS. Anyone experienced with similar setups has had this issue? Or someone comfortable discussing manual RAM clocking? I’m confused because my FCLK is already set to 1600MHz, which should match two DDR4 3200MHz sticks. The CPU-z images are from before I entered BIOS. Did you save the changes? People keep saying I modified something, but I always back up my BIOS settings. In this case, I didn’t alter anything in BIOS—just DCOP with a single profile selected. My only alternative is to manually clock it.
Yes, keep the changes for DOCP. XMP serves as Intel's memory profile tool, similar to DOCP, while EXPO is AMD's equivalent for memory overclocking. JEDEC establishes the standard RAM speeds and frequencies for each DDR generation. Because DOCP involves memory overclocking, it exceeds the JEDEC limits. I always keep my settings before restarting from BIOS. Most of the time when I exit BIOS, my computer restarts at least three times. But as I mentioned earlier, I haven’t altered anything in BIOS concerning memory since I first had this system. When I open BIOS, what I see matches what I’ve experienced since purchase. Except for the unwanted CPU overclock—I mean, heh.
The motherboard isn't posting properly with the DOCP profile. On the QVL list for this ASUS model, these RAM modules aren’t included. The BIOS version in use is a Beta from November 2020, while the latest stable is Version 2803 from April 2022. Switching to the default settings and updating the BIOS may resolve the issue with memory stability. In some cases, the problem persists, so consider getting a RAM kit from the QVL list to ensure compatibility with your specific board. Keep your CPU overclock details handy if you plan to apply them in the new BIOS.
