You can reduce folder and file sizes, with the exception of system files that are handled by the C drive and HDD. Windows 10 Pro 64-Bit

I think you're referring to the Windows feature that lets you compress files transparently using NTFS compression.

there's an option for this somewhere. i only vaguely recall because windows accidentially enabled this with an update at some point. i do feel the need to add to this - if it's not absolutely necessary.. dont. it's such a grind on system resources that you should explore just about every other option before going this way.
