You could attach a connector, but you’d need to modify the board. The soldering pads are there for M.2 SSDs, so it’s possible to add a connector if you adjust the soldering points accordingly.

Maybe it's more complex than just a PCI-E to M.2 NVME adapter.

It's likely that without an existing connector, the required parts won't be available to install.
