This situation might turn out to be an issue, as you likely lack complete authority over the programs or services interacting with that drive. In fact, any data written to it would likely face significant delays.

I didn't realize that the extra backup drive would be an issue since i'm not using it. I will take it out tomorrow and see if that speeds things up any. There's my system info below. I have a AMD Radeon HD 7700 Series now, not what is on the system info sheet.

My unconnected extra hard drive didn’t help much, it still took forever to open videos or zip files.
The scan with sfc /scannow showed no issues. Avira and Malwarebytes also reported no problems. Defender didn’t show any issues either.
After the crash, I let Windows update and noticed Microsoft Edge, so I removed that too, along with Avira since it was listed in uninstall or change programs. After restarting, it seems to be working better when opening videos and zip files.
But there was an error message after startup:
"There was a problem starting C:\Windows\system32\nvspcap64.dll The specified module could not be found"

What free antivirus options are available these days?
