Do you have a reliable tool to restore files that you deleted more than a week ago? They were on your desktop, you shared them with a friend, and he approved deleting them. Now they’re in the trash, but it’s empty and you can’t locate them. Recuva didn’t help.

Using Windows with restore points, the volume shadow copy tool is helpful. To access a file, right-click on the desktop folder (located in C:\windows\yourusername\desktop), choose 'Properties,' and then go to the 'Previous Versions' tab. This will display earlier backup versions of that folder. I hope this assists you.

I'm going to try TestDisk, okay? I was aware of it but sadly didn't turn it on since I never delete my important files. This was just an exception because the files weren't mine and I had permission to remove them. My friend is really clueless. Thanks still!

If I were handling it, I’d swap out the hard drive and try a different setup. Use the recovery tool from another device and check the HDD with the provided link. Just remember, avoid running recovery programs from the same drive you’re trying to restore data from.
