CPU likely handles 43x100 or 44x100 at 1.2 volts. BIOS is the optimal approach for overclocking.

I wasn't sure it would survive—so I'm going to try pushing it, but I don't want it to reach 1.3V on Air.

Ultimately you’ll have to go through several iterations anyway if you truly want to change things. You’ll need to run stress tests and some will inevitably fail, forcing you to step back a bit. Or progress gradually in smaller steps.
