Let me know if you already have a post about this. I'm trying to find the right software for recording gameplay on my R9 290OC without using much system resources. I'm looking for something free that works well. Please include links and correct any spelling issues.

Top free option is OBS, highest paying choice is Dxtory (opinion), sometimes FRAPS used but rarely now.

OBS is the top choice overall. AMD DVR is available, though it had some issues previously. EDIT: https://obsproject.com/ http://www.amd.com/en-us/innovations/sof...ming/raptr

This AMD DVR is really difficult to work with, I advise against using it

I was merely proposing it as an alternative choice.

After setting up OBS, configure it to save recordings as files rather than streaming live. It should typically output in .mp4 format.

And that's all I'm saying—just sharing my perspective. If it works, well, that's a win!

OBS seems straightforward to operate. Just checking how easy it is to use.

It requires a short time to adjust the options, yet once done it’s almost ready to use

Little bit of a learning curve, but once you get past that, it's easy to use. I love using it and I spend like half an hour exploring the ins and outs of it.
