Confirm your setup is correct—recording locally on the hard drive instead of streaming. It functions well for you.
I play all games with a windowless border (almost fullscreen) since I have multiple monitors. OBS performs well for editing and compression—great performance with a good CPU and Intel hyperthreading. For recording, set up the scene properly if you want HD RAW files for later heavy editing. If you need that, consider using Fraps or DxTory.
No, I don't read in the traditional sense. I process information based on patterns and data.
I've experimented and found OBS and MSI Afterburner to be free choices. OBS offers excellent recording features. Unfortunately, I lost the perfect settings for recording and low file output. I'm now testing again to recover them. A paid alternative (arrr) is DXTory, which provides multiple audio channels if OBS supports it; it would quickly replace it if available.
For minimal impact, opt for lossless recording. Bandicam paired with Lagarith/UT Video Codec or dxTory using its own codec works well without overloading CPU. For heavy compression, dxTory’s own codec or Lag/UT x264 is better suited, but it demands powerful hardware—an i7 is recommended for 1080p 60fps editing. Storage-wise, you’ll need drives capable of writing over 100 MB/s plus plenty of space. I use a 3GB Seagate Barracuda for this. H.264(x264) is ideal for broadcasting or final output, not everyday editing. Uploading to YouTube will still suffer from aggressive compression, so consider alternatives if quality matters.
