Don’t know any trustworthy online references, but you might want to look in your parents’ or friends’ drawers for “repair” or “recovery” disks. They were likely included with XP laptops and came with the full Windows install image. Once set up, you can insert the CD into your VM and use it as disk 2 or similar. Alternatively, you can copy the CD to an ISO and mount it on your system.
Besides a CD, the Internet Archive is your top choice. Ensure the ISO hasn’t changed by checking with PowerShell or 7-Zip for the SHA checksum. Links in this area follow the forum Community Standards.
Avoid clicking the browse button. Instead, find the saved XP ISO file and use it to start a virtual machine.
Consider transferring the file from the downloads folder to the desired location.
It can be saved to the Downloads folder. VMWare treats it as a virtual disk and doesn’t require a particular storage path to access an ISO.
