I’d prefer Windows 7 because Windows 8.1 lacks a start menu—it actually redirects you back to the Metro interface, which I dislike. I simply don’t enjoy that Metro design.
It's a great OS. You can simply disable the quick corners if you want to, not problem there. In fact, there are a lot of settings to make the system behave more like Windows 7 so it's perfectly suited for a desktop computer rather than a tablet. Get Windows 8.1 and pin all the stuff you use to the start screen and try it out like it was intended to be used before installing 3rd party software. If you approach it with an open mind you will never look back.
start is available again for around $1, giving you a standard start menu ^^
why purchase start is back when classic start offers many personalization options and is free? you can even pick your preferred layout for the start menu. still, i prefer windows 7 since i love my custom themes and dislike the appearance of the startup screen on windows 8. i also don’t want to switch to a new operating system unless i’m sure it won’t cause issues with what i have now.
Windows 8.1, Windows 7, Ubuntu, or Windows 95 are all operating systems available for use.
