Software becomes unresponsive and stops working on the computer after installing the Windows update 2004/20H2.
A few months back I applied the latest Windows update 2004 and soon faced several complications: inability to create or close tabs in Google Chrome, Chrome appearing closed yet staying highlighted in the taskbar and visible in Task Manager, Discord notifications freezing with delayed typing until minimized, messages only showing after maximizing the window, and notification sounds persisting despite freezing. Attempts to resolve included disabling video drivers, editing registry entries, reinstalling Windows, wiping storage drives, and performing a clean install with Windows Update 2004. I also tried upgrading from Windows 1909 to 2004 and installing Windows 20H2, hoping it would fix the issues. My system runs a Ryzen 5 2600 with 32GB RAM, a B450 AORUS PRO Wi-Fi card, GTX 1070, and uses Rapid mode on the SSD. I’m seeking advice to get this working smoothly.
It seems you're facing a need to reinstall Windows. You can retain your personal files in the User folder, but everything else will be deleted. This process happens regularly, and each time it fails differently. It feels like Windows is asking me to set up an automatic installation script for all my programs with just a few clicks.
