Soft sounds come through after the PSU (12vp plug) overheats or burns.
Hey everyone, yesterday my power supply failed again—this time the 12V cable or plug, thankfully it only melted on one side of the PSU, not the graphics card. Now I have a fresh PSU, but the sound in Windows is extremely quiet. I've checked all settings in Windows 11, reinstalled drivers, and tried different configurations. I connected an amplifier to the PC via aux and then linked my devices like headphones and speakers. When I used the amplifier alone, the volume was about as loud as with it. When I connected the amplifier to another PC, everything sounded normal again. For instance, I usually hear around 20% volume in Windows, which is clear, but now I need almost 100% for the same level. It feels like the amplifier isn't working on this machine. I suspect the issue might be with Windows itself—maybe it got damaged when the cable melted, and I switched off the PC directly afterward. Unfortunately, Windows has been unresponsive since its first launch, and even after adjusting display settings, it still won’t boot properly. I tried a new amplifier with its cable to test, but nothing seems to help. I’ve gone through all the options for Windows 11, and I’m not sure if the new PSU is the problem or if it’s affecting the audio. It’s possible the graphics card is faulty, but that would mean everything else should still work. The sound issue alone doesn’t seem likely. Could you have any suggestions? I’ve only managed to reinstall Windows so far.
