I recently purchased a new laptop with 16 GB of RAM. Eight of them are fixed on the board, while the other eight are in a slot. I’m considering swapping the 8 GB slot to a larger size—either 32 or 16 GB. I’m unsure about the risks involved and whether I’d lose the dual-channel memory benefit.
