Hello everyone, welcome to the new year. After checking Reddit, YouTube, and Discord servers, I still can't find the information I needed for the 1700 socket from Intel in late 2025 and now 2026. I'm in a pretty tight spot because I have an AM4 build with a 3600 and a 3060 with 12GB and 16GB RAM. I'm planning to upgrade to a newer platform without needing more power for my indie game development, but I want newer features. I was thinking of moving to an 14600K since it supports both DDR4 and DDR5 RAM, which fits my setup. I already have the RAM and a B580 for rendering, both compatible with REBAR. Should I stick with AM4 and upgrade to a 5800X and a 5070Ti? I won't go for the 5080 because I only develop games in 1080p, and upscaling to 4K will be available soon. My budget is 1000 EUR, so anyone who can help with your time would be a big relief!
And the X3D versions... there doesn't seem to be any benefit from going up to 14600K. If you keep using AM4, a BIOS update might be necessary.
My motherboard doesn’t support 12-core or 16-core processors, and it lacks built-in Wi-Fi. I’m using a USB stick and planning to upgrade just for added features. I’ll also donate the old CPU and motherboard combo to a friend!
