So, which brands make great networking switches lately?

Two point five gigabytes per second seems enough for most hard drives. But if you put just solid state drives into a network attached storage, you'll need ten gigabytes per second, no matter what type of cables you use.
Even then, it depends on what you're doing. On a gigabit LAN, talking to spinning hard drive: My daily backups take one or two minutes per drive Playing a movie from the NAS on one of my PCs starts instantly Downloading something from the internet is slow just because of the ISP speed, not my network I have 1x SATA SSD in the NAS but the ~90TB HDD will get stuck. I can't imagine any situation where upgrading my whole LAN setup from gigabit to 2.5 or 10 Gigabit would make sense.
I make full backups every night. Maybe we could copy large video files around. That's pretty much all I can think of that would be easy. I still just plug a drive in, back it up overnight, and put it back on the shelf. Haven't touched my gaming setup for a while, so everything is sitting there safely with cloud backup for the games I'm using right now. I changed my HTPC's main drive to an NVMe, giving me a perfect snapshot of what was there before the upgrade. Now I have one machine ready to host that dedicated NVMe drive just for backups, and it even has fast 2.5Gbps connections too. It would be cool if I could get an 8TB QLC drive with all my OS copies on it so things load super fast. But every time I think about it, I realize how much downtime there is anyway. If I lose my PC for just a few hours, what else do I lose? My personal files are already backed up, so nothing real is lost. The only thing left to figure out is getting an ethernet cable over to the modem because that's the trickiest part in my house. Most of the wiring goes through the ceiling and walls in my office. In the living room, though, it's pretty easy to reach from below. So I just need to fish something all the way up a vertical wall somewhere...
There are lots of reviews saying yes I checked out some stuff. Some people said just like the 8-port model, the 5-port thing also has ports breaking after a few months. It seems to me there are many Amazon reviews reporting exactly that too. Is this really common in the Switch world?
Of course. I realized this when things were really hard to find, and they were too expensive. You guys who have just two ports for data usually pay less than people with many more ports like that.
