I believed Mantle was meant to reduce CPU load, but turning it on in BF4 causes noticeable stuttering that makes playback impossible. In DX11 it runs flawlessly at 90–120 FPS with 1080p resolution. That’s why Mantle is no longer supported.
They usually advise users to employ DX11 according to Mantle developers.
Mantle represents the graphics APIs for Windows 8. It came ahead of its time and helped accelerate the development process. A useful but flawed reference point.
