My i7-8700k isn’t great for gaming anymore, and my GTX 1070 is struggling with newer games, especially at 1440p. I'm really frustrated because I want smooth gameplay on my 144Hz monitor, but I keep getting low FPS (60-90) and tearing. I’ve tried tweaking Nvidia settings like G-Sync and V-Sync, but it doesn’t seem to help much – V-Sync causes more drops, and G-Sync doesn't always fix the tearing. I’m considering upgrading my GPU to an RTX 2070 Super, but I'm also worried about whether my monitor is capable of running games at full potential. My specs are decent: a 27” 1440p QHD G-sync monitor, i7-8700k CPU, GTX 1070 GPU, and 32GB RAM. I'm trying to figure out the best way to optimize my setup for smoother gaming without sacrificing visual quality. Should I set my refresh rate to 90Hz and cap FPS? Is -3 fps below my refresh rate correct? What’s the easiest way to set up G-Sync? I want a stable FPS and good visuals, but I'm feeling overwhelmed with all the options.

It’s good practice to clean install fresh drivers using it - especially so, if you were using the competitor’s product previously. Geforce Experience doesn’t know what works best in every situation; you may be better off without it. I would check if your particular monitor had any firmware updates released for it on the product support page. In Nvidia Control Panel > Manage 3D Settings: -DSR is turned off? -Experiment with Low Latency Mode: either On or Ultra -Power management mode: set to either Adaptive or…

1)What graphics settings are you trying to run?
Those are normal results for 1440p on high quality with your current equipment.
2)Cpu and gpu temps in game?
3)Are motherboard drivers up to date?
4)Gpu drivers up to date? Are you using Display Driver Uninstaller to remove the old driver first before installing the new one?
5)Your gpu is definitely 2K capable, but you just need to turn settings down in some games.
6)
Elaborate, please.
Did you reinstall Windows? Did you reinstall your motherboard drivers afterwards?
Reinstalling Windows wipes those too.

High. Because its same as "Low" or "Medium". Game isnt very well optimized.
I need to test that to see, but I suppose my CPU is like 50-60C and GPU: 60-70C
Yes, they are updated.
They are also updated. No I never used Display Driver Uninstaller, I just downloaded new driver when It came out from GeForce Experience.
Yeah I think that sometimes too, but games aren´t smooth as I want :/
Yes, I reinstalled Windows and deleted everything in PC, I re-installed all drivers, gpu, motherboard etc. (I could tell it gave me like 1-2% boost in the game.)
I set up my monitor to 85Hz and cap FPS in games for 85, It went little bit smoother without tearing, lagging, but I suppose if I want better performance I have to upgrade my GPU :/

Here’s a rewritten version of the text, using different words and aiming for clarity:

“Let’s rephrase this to be clearer. Don't get bogged down trying to perfectly evaluate performance based on inconsistent PC results – it can lead to disappointment. Specifically, if you’ve previously used another graphics card manufacturer’s software, a fresh installation of the drivers is recommended. The GeForce Experience tool isn’t always optimal; sometimes a more direct approach yields better results.

First, verify that your monitor has any available firmware updates through its support page. Within the Nvidia Control Panel:

* Ensure DSR (Dynamic Super Resolution) is turned off.
* Experiment with Low Latency Mode – either ‘On’ or ‘Ultra’.
* Set Power Management mode to ‘Adaptive’ or ‘Max Performance.’
* Texture Filtering Quality should be set to ‘High Performance.’
* Disable Vertical Sync.

Remember to click ‘Apply’ and exit the Control Panel before making any changes.

It's possible you might need to adjust settings to achieve a smoother 144 frames per second in many games with a GTX 1070, especially at medium settings. Lowering graphics quality can help. You can check your GPU performance here: [https://www.gpucheck.com/en-usd/gpu/nvid...ghz/medium](https://www.gpucheck.com/en-usd/gpu/nvid...ghz/medium) and here: [https://www.gpucheck.com/en-usd/gpu/nvid...-70ghz/low](https://www.gpucheck.com/en-usd/gpu/nvid...-70ghz/low)

👍”

Set monitor refresh to 144Hz.
Set vsync to adaptive.
Then experiment with g-sync on/off.

Okay If there will be new driver, I will use the Display Driver Uninstaller
Will look it up and download something.
DSR I really dont know if its ON or OFF right now.
Other settings I tried and didn´t help too much.
I think I will sell my 1070 + I have saved some money so I will buy 2070 Super which cost 600€ in my country or maybe 2080 Super which cost 850€ but Its maybe not worth it. 2080 Ti is too expensive = 1300€

The text discusses graphics cards, specifically comparing the Nvidia RTX 2070 Super and 2080 Super models. It details their relative performance differences on various settings, highlighting that the 2080 Super offers a noticeable speed advantage over the 2070 Super, particularly at higher graphical resolutions like 4K. The text also criticizes the inflated pricing of the RTX 2080 Ti compared to older Nvidia flagships and notes that improvements in performance haven't been substantial enough to justify upgrades from previous generations (Pascal architecture). It suggests that a 1070 can still compete with newer cards like the 2060.

I don't understand the appeal of paying over a grand for a GPU that can't even give you a stable 60 fps in 4K ultra settings. Until the hardware actually gets to that point where it can guarantee a great performance at that level, cards like the 2080TI is a huge waste of money the way I see it. 4K gaming is highly overrated because of this and I would never buy a card based on it. 1440P is all I care about at the moment.
