I already own an RTX 2080 and don’t have any immediate plans to upgrade unless Nvidia introduces PCI-E 4.0 3000 cards, which seems improbable right now. Right now, PCI-E 4.0 doesn’t really appeal to me.

You could go with the MSI B450I Gaming Plus, but there's a chance (not guaranteed) that it won't work with 3rd gen without a BIOS update that requires an older CPU to do.

I’m aiming to stay within a budget of under $200 for a motherboard. If the 3000 RTX rumor holds, I might consider PCI-E 4.0 options.

I was checking the board recently. I have a second-generation CPU available to swap into it for an update, and everything should be fine.

Buildzoid states that an RTX 2080TI works well in an 8x slot with only slight performance reduction. It’s improbable the RTX 3080Ti would require four times the bandwidth to the motherboard.
