Slower data transfer speeds
Slower data transfer speeds
Hi, I see the issue with your internet connection. The speeds you're getting are around 1.2 Mb/s, which is much lower than expected for a WiFi 4 router claiming up to 400 Mb/s. It's strange since your games run smoothly. You might want to check your network settings, ensure there are no interference issues, or consider contacting your ISP for further assistance.
1.2Mb/s or MB/s? The actual rate is 10Mb/s (10Mbit). Speed varies based on the source you're downloading from, since it's limited by the weakest connection in the path. Certain ISPs may inspect packets and reduce performance for specific traffic. During busy periods, your ISP might also throttle speeds. It's best to inform your provider about any speed problems.
gaming isn’t highly affected by network speed; it’s mainly about latency, often called ping. When using Ethernet and checking speeds on sites like fast.com, observe what you get. Consider upgrading to a better Wi-Fi option. Wifi 4 (formerly 802.11n) lags behind 5 or 6. Actual performance depends on your router, device, and antenna count, but 150-250mbps is the top speed under ideal settings. Right now, you’re still receiving far below that. Think about your device, its location relative to the router, nearby wireless networks, and any interference.
Check if your PC uses WiFi or Ethernet. Explain that a poor Ethernet connection may limit your speed to just 1.2MB per second, and ask whether your actual speed appears correctly on speedtest.net.
I've tested both options and used a CAT 6 cable. Speedtest.net reports the maximum speed should be 4.1 Mb/s, which isn't very impressive.
What rate are you receiving? Which provider are you using? Have you reached out to your service provider to run a check on your device?
