Slow Wi-Fi for 10 Years
Slow Wi-Fi for 10 Years
I need to clarify my situation. My family and I have been experiencing 3MBps internet speeds for about a decade now and have grown tired of it. Streaming services like Netflix load slowly, online games become unplayable unless two people are connected, YouTube videos play at 240p, and we face frequent disconnections every few hours. No nearby ISP offers faster connections, and even though Bell tries to improve things, the problem persists. We've filed complaints for a long time but haven't received any resolution. Any suggestions to boost our Wi-Fi performance would be greatly appreciated. -Side note, we're considering Starlink once it becomes available in our area.
You're in a location with Eastlink's high-speed internet coverage.
It displays the results of a speed test, such as download and upload speeds, latency, and connection status. You can check sites like fast.com or speedtest.net for detailed performance metrics.
22.05 Mbps download speed, 5.40 Mbps upload, and a 31ms latency.
Well, despite 25Mbps not being excellent, it's still better than 3Mbps, so the main concern would be resolving the Wi-Fi issue. How long have you been using the device? If it's quite old, it might be a G or N model. The solution could be as straightforward as switching to a separate wireless AC or AX router and turning off the Wi-Fi on the modem.
Even so, ISP equipment is nearly always bad quality. I’d consider using a standalone router instead. If that doesn’t help, you can simply return it.
