Slow nvme
Girlfriends PC experienced significant delays with Windows 11 loading. The NVMe drive only reported 25mbps with high latency. After updating BIOS and running a corruption scan, the system briefly functioned normally before repeatedly freezing for 30-60 seconds when launching File Explorer. Disabling write caching improved performance to 500mbps read and 800mbps write, though still modest. Re-enabling write cache restored speeds to 25-50mbps but increased latency to about 1000ms. The drive remains a 512GB NVMe with over 200GB free space. It seems the controller is struggling under load.
Hard Disk Sentinel provides insights into the drive's condition, highlighting any issues like errors, bad sectors, or performance concerns. It helps users understand the overall health and reliability of their storage device.
The system reported one error from DISTRIBUTEDCOM about missing timeout registration, while other details remain available in the logs. Under the application, a CertificateservicesClient-Cert error appeared around the same time as I executed sfc /scannow. There’s also a warning related to SMBCtrl that seems connected to Rgb fusion. I just installed the latest NVIDIA drivers last night, though they were causing this issue before. I performed the newest BIOS updates and driver patches in an attempt to resolve it.
I possess the crystal disk details but will be transitioning to Hard Disk Sentinel soon. The crystal is functioning well with no problems and maintains a 99% health rating, even though it’s only been around for about a year. Apologies for rushing out—just captured an image instead of a screenshot because it was faster.
It’s really outdated, honestly. Are you suggesting we purchase a top-tier SSD now?
