I've experienced extremely slow WiFi lately, and I don't understand the cause. My phone, switch, and laptop lost connection, felt very sluggish or reported as if connected without internet. A speed test revealed download speeds between 10 and 0.5 megabits per second, while my mother in the office next to my room is getting 50 Mbps. I dropped out of online classes a few times due to the poor connection. It seems the issue is localized to my room and quite severe. I use an old Samsung USB WiFi adapter that came with our TV; I'm considering switching to a PCIE card with Bluetooth, if you have any ideas. My previous experience was great, but this isn't working now. I even timed out while hosting a Minecraft server on my own PC for friends.

My mom is right above the WiFi router, yet I don’t have a direct Ethernet connection. The cable would be inconvenient to move up and across the hallway. I could connect it to the repeater, but I turn off my computer at night because the lights make it hard to sleep. My parents rely on that signal for their Sky box in the other room at night, so it can’t reach my PC via Ethernet. You might find this link useful: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Ubit-1200Mbps-B...82HZV1?th= 1 with a black color option.

They likely trimmed the data to reduce bandwidth usage. It sounds like they were sending only a portion of the received signal, which can limit the amount of data you get. That’s probably why your connection feels slower.
