Hello everyone, I’m looking for some advice on improving my internet connection. I currently use a 300Mbps/15Mbps wired setup through an Asus RT-N56U router on two devices—a desktop and a laptop. My other desktop only manages up to 140Mbps/15Mbps with a Cat 5e cable. I’ve tried various fixes for the slow speeds, but haven’t reinstalled Windows 7 yet. If anyone has suggestions, please share. I completed troubleshooting steps like running Windows in safe mode, swapping the network cable, changing the router port, and testing a new PCI Express adapter. The NIC speed was confirmed at 1.0 Gbps, and I updated drivers and used utilities from ASRock. My PC specs include Windows 7 Ultimate, an Intel Core i5-4690K, an ASRock Z87 motherboard, and the HyperX Fury Black with RAM. The router is acting as a bridge. Let me know if you have any ideas!

Realistically, if you're attempting to link both systems simultaneously, you'll likely notice it breaking apart, just observing the overall effect. I'm not very experienced with networks, so I might be mistaken.

During my troubleshooting last night, I powered down the other machines, which suggests the problem isn't a split connection.

It might be a defective MoB, though figuring it out is tough without a new one.

Maybe it's related to the ports or simply the system doesn't require 300mbps.

You meant clarifying that you don’t require a 300Mbps connection. I succeeded in reaching those speeds using two additional devices under the same conditions. Thank you.

It sounds like a QoS configuration issue on the W7 machine.
