I recently purchased a second M.2 drive intended for cloning with my primary drive due to space constraints, but it didn’t appear when I connected it to the second slot. After swapping positions, the new drive is visible, though it doesn’t boot my original system. In short, the second slot isn’t working. Is there anything you can try? The motherboard is MSI MPG B550, the boot drive is Crucial_CT525MX300SSD4, and the new drive is a Samsung 980 Pro.
Your Crucial must be in the first position because it's SATA. The Samsung should fit in the second slot, as it's PCIe and that slot only accommodates PCIe. What does the BIOS display when you access it? Both indicate it. Also, why do you require a PRO drive? It might help reduce expenses. I would frequently check your motherboard manual regarding the M.2 slots, as they only connect to a specific SATA port on the board. If you've connected a drive to the SATA slot that shares with the M.2 slot, only one will function properly.
