The B350 and B450 chipset cannot use SLI since it needs each PCIe slot to have at least 8 lanes. The lane count stays the same from PCIe 3.0 to PCIe 2.0—you don’t gain more lanes by switching from PCIe 3.0 to PCIe 2.0. A CPU can provide up to 16 lanes, but the B350/B450 doesn’t support splitting an x16 slot into two x8 slots. x470 and x570 models can handle this, though the motherboard manufacturer decides whether to implement it. Most boards only use four lanes for an extra slot, leaving others for features like M.2, PCIe x1, USB, and networking. SLI functionality also involves costs, similar to licensing fees from NVIDIA.

SLI is included in the description. Support for two PCI-E X8 or X16 slots, or two 8-bit slots, is available. Better to skip SLI—it’s largely obsolete and won’t work with newer cards.

Are you purchasing a new board for experimenting with 650Tis in SLI, or are you curious about SLI overall? Spare your money and opt for a stronger dedicated GPU instead.

I don’t have a B550 board with eight SATA ports, and SLI definitely has some appeal.

I utilized it for its serial ports (parallel came with it) since my serial IR tower runs on Windows 10. I own an RCX kit for the Minecraft world we have—a collection of roughly 20 LEGO sets assembled into a 4-5 foot square structure.

You can buy pci-e x1 riser cables, so you can insert a riser cable under the video card and extend a x1 slot Example cable: https://www.amazon.com/Mustpoint-Express...07PMPDGGX/ The one above also allows you to insert a x4 or x8 card into that x1 slot, because there's no wall at the end (and pci-e is designed like that, the card will run with a part of its edge connector in the air, but will run at x1 speed) Cheaper designs : https://www.amazon.com/Tenext-Quality-Ri...0067WZH2Q/ https://www.amazon.com/GLOTRENDS-Extensi...07N38Y799/ This one will only take x1 cards due to the inductor at the end.
