Rendering is a different area—most tools don’t handle it well, but many software options exist for it.

I tested performance in various titles (like GTA5 and RDR2) that use both graphics cards, and results were almost identical. I chose a model without SLI support and plan to sell one of my 1080 models once the 4000 series arrives. I didn’t focus much on rendering lately, but I’m not sure it would make a big difference.

I chose a board without SLI support since tests didn’t show any benefit when it was enabled. Plan to buy one GPU now and upgrade the second later.

Rendering relies solely on the cards without utilizing sli. It operates independently, allowing multiple GPU usage if supported. Any mix is possible. New games don't include sli.

They back it up but no one maintains it, which causes issues. The process relies on the software, though in tools like Blender it can run smoothly across many GPUs. It doesn’t rely on sli at all—it simply utilizes the cards.
