You're checking compatibility for a Z690 upgrade. Many models list multiple 16x slots, which should support SLI functionality as it was common around 2021.

Sli has been permanently removed. There are no updates or support for it, making it an unnecessary expense. The developers haven’t tested or added it since it’s considered outdated technology.

I understand you're checking its viability in specific situations. Let's see if it remains operational under those conditions.

Because the boards can't handle it, remember that SLI is failing even in older titles, and newer drivers aren't getting support anymore.

Besides GTA 5 and Red Dead 2, most other titles don’t rely on it much. I think I could profit from selling one and use the funds for a better board or memory. The upcoming CPU should boost performance so much that the difference won’t be noticeable in those two games.

The board needs SLI certification to function, otherwise it won't matter how many x8 or x16 slots there are.

Sounds logical. Selling my second 1080 might be better than upgrading to a 12th-gen CPU, since it would likely feel like a fresh GPU even in the two games that still support both GPUs.

I don’t expect a lot of improvement from a new CPU alone. It’s unlikely to be the main limiting factor.

I saw someone with identical CPU and GPU to mine, upgraded to a Ryzen 3600 and noticed a significant performance increase. I'm optimistic about it.
